At Bauma 2025 in Munich, Caterpillar turned heads by launching the next-generation Cat 140 motor grader.
The timing is suitable for Cat’s centenary celebration and its theme “The Next 100 Years”, as the iconic 140 gets a major upgrade.
The new model brings “stamps of efficiency, productivity and operator comfort” to a familiar workhorse. Contractors and dealers can expect the trusted versatility of the old 140, easy transport and reliable performance in everything from snow-clearing to ditching.

It is equipped with a more modern and comfortable cab
One of the most noticeable improvements is inside the cab. Engineers borrowed the spacious new cabin design from Caterpillar’s 120-series graders, giving the cat 140g graders for sale much larger windows and better all-around visibility.

Customers can configure the grader with the industry-exclusive three-axis joystick or with traditional levers and a steering wheel – whichever the operator prefers.
The joystick system itself gets subtle tweaks to make steering inputs smoother and more ergonomic. These cab and control upgrades together make the new Cat 140 feel much more modern and user-friendly than previous models.
Smart grading technology is fitted for more productivity
Under the skin, the new Cat 140 is packed with smart features to help crews work faster and more accurately. A key addition is the Stable Blade system, which automatically dampens moldboard bounce on rough ground to produce a smoother cut.
Similarly, Cat has introduced fully calibrated 3D grading capability on the 140. Paired with optional GPS or laser guidance, this means an operator can follow digital terrain models and achieve precise slopes with minimal rework.
